  • The proximity detection area is smaller than usual
  • The LED indicator light on the key won’t turn on

How to Change the Battery in a Lexus Key Fob – Four Simple Steps

When it comes time for Lexus key battery replacement, you will need a flathead screwdriver and a CR2032 lithium battery. When you have what you need, simply follow the instructions here: 

  1. Push the release button on the side of the key fob. Take out the emergency key blade. 
  2. Place the tip of the flathead screwdriver in the open space where the key blade was located. Use gentle pressure to remove the key fob cover plate. 
  3. Some key fobs have an electronic key module covering the battery. If that is the case for your key fob, remove that first before taking out the old battery with the screwdriver.
  4. Put the new CR2032 battery in place (plus side facing up). Replace the electronic key module and pop the key fob cover plate back into place.
